Week 5 Fantasy Red-Zone Report: Nico Collins and Brock Bowers Poised to Break Out

Fantasy Football: Week 5 Red-Zone Outlook

We’re heading into Week 5, and the red zone is where fantasy games are truly won or lost. Those last 20 yards separate average players from league winners — and this week, a few names pop up as prime touchdown candidates.

Nico Collins hasn’t found the end zone in the red zone yet this season, but that could change fast. The Texans’ wideout faces a Baltimore Ravens defense that’s given up more red-zone touchdowns than anyone else. That’s a dream setup for fantasy managers hoping Collins cashes in.

Meanwhile, rookie tight end Brock Bowers is still waiting for his first NFL touchdown. This week, he faces the Indianapolis Colts, who have been soft against the pass in close quarters. If there’s ever a time for Bowers to make his mark, this is it.

Why the Red Zone Matters

The red zone — that precious 20-yard stretch — is the golden land for fantasy scoring. Touchdowns, targets, and goal-line carries all happen here. Keeping tabs on which players get those chances can make or break your fantasy lineup.

Each week, we’ll track every team’s top red-zone performers, their success rates, and which defenses are easiest to exploit near the goal line.

(Note: Plays negated by penalties don’t count toward red-zone stats.)

Spotlight Matchups

Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens

  • Ravens red-zone defense: Struggling, ranking near the bottom in preventing touchdowns.

  • Texans outlook: Nico Collins leads Houston in red-zone routes and targets, even though the touchdowns haven’t come yet. That could easily change against this leaky Baltimore unit.

If you’re setting a DFS lineup or hunting for a player prop, Collins is a sneaky-good bet to score in Week 5.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Brock Bowers’ Breakout?

  • Colts red-zone defense: Weak through the air; 70% of red-zone scores allowed have been passing plays.

  • Why it matters: Bowers is athletic, tough, and has been getting open — just missing the finishing touch. Expect him to be a red-zone focal point this week.

Team-by-Team Red-Zone Notes

Arizona Cardinals (vs. Titans)

The Titans can’t stop anyone on the ground near the goal line. They’ve already allowed five rushing touchdowns in red-zone situations.
With James Conner and Trey Benson banged up, Emari Demercado could be the sneaky play here. He’s the only back with a red-zone score for Arizona this year.

Baltimore Ravens (vs. Texans)

No Lamar Jackson this week? Expect the Ravens to lean heavily on Derrick Henry, who’s been dominating carries inside the 20. Houston’s defense ranks 29th in red-zone success rate allowed — a great opportunity for Henry to finally punch one in.

Buffalo Bills (vs. Patriots)

The Patriots have been absolutely terrible defending red-zone passes, giving up a 66.7% success rate. That’s bad news for them and great news for Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir, both of whom have been top targets for Josh Allen in scoring range.

Carolina Panthers (vs. Dolphins)

Miami has faced one of the highest numbers of red-zone plays this season, and they’re struggling — allowing nine total TDs. Hunter Renfrow and Tommy Tremble have been quietly effective close to the goal line and could shine again.

Dallas Cowboys (vs. Jets)

While George Pickens has been a monster in red-zone usage (42% target rate!), Javonte Williams is also finding his groove with three red-zone touchdowns already. The Jets defend the run well but are vulnerable to strong receivers inside the 20.

Denver Broncos (vs. Eagles)

J.K. Dobbins has been owning red-zone work for Denver, scoring three times already. Philly’s been much better against the pass than the run near the goal line, so expect more handoffs and power runs in tight.

Detroit Lions (vs. Bengals)

The Bengals have allowed the second-most red-zone touchdowns in the NFL this season. That’s fantastic news for Amon-Ra St. Brown, who’s already scored six times and continues to dominate inside the 20.
