This season, for the first time in history, four Polish clubs are competing in the regular season of European competition. Lech Poznań, Raków Częstochowa, Jagiellonia Białystok, and Legia Warsaw play in the Conference League. Polish club football is growing in strength, and Polish fans may be wondering: where in the world is our football ranked? A new ranking prepared by analysts Opta provides the answer.

Based on the ranking prepared and presented in the aforementioned source, the conclusions are clear. The Premier League is the world’s strongest league, with La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 rounding out the top five. Next in line are the Championship, the Portuguese Primeira Liga, the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, and two non-European leagues: the Brazilian Serie A and the Argentine league.
The second ten is topped by: MLS, the Danish Superligaen, the Dutch Eredivisie, and… the Polish Ekstraklasa. Yes, that’s not a mistake. The Polish league is the 14th strongest league in the world, and excluding leagues across the Atlantic and the second tier in England, it’s the 10th strongest league in Europe.
This puts it ahead of leagues such as the Croatian, Turkish, Swiss, Swedish, 2nd Bundesliga and the Japanese league.
