Competition format

The Copinha will be played in seven phases, with the sixth being the semi-final, and the seventh, the grand final, which will take place at Pacaembu Stadium on January 25th. In the first stage, 128 teams will be divided into 32 groups, playing each other in a single round-robin format. At the end, the two best teams from each group advance to the knockout stage, played in a single match. In case of a tie in the knockout matches, the winner will be decided by penalty kicks.

In the first phase, the tie-breaking criteria are: greater number of wins, goal difference, more goals scored, fewer red cards received, fewer yellow cards, head-to-head record (only between clubs that tie) and, lastly, a public draw at the headquarters of the Paulista Federation.
