Desportivo de Chaves wants to ‘stamp’ first victory of the season in the visit to Arouca
After having added the first point of the 2023/24 edition of the League against Estrela da Amadora (2-2), Desportivo de Chaves now wants to ‘stamp’ the first triumph on Sunday at the Municipal Stadium of Arouca.
“I feel the group is very focused, very confident. We will have to be organized, competitive, supportive on the field, have the necessary courage with the ball to create danger with one goal: to leave Arouca with the first victory,” Moreno said in the pre-match conference.
The Vimaranense coach said he believes the task will not be easy, recognizing qualities in the opponent, but assured that the squad will not lower its arms.
“They are a difficult team, who have prepared to be in European competitions, who this year have already proved to be very difficult to beat. I remember that they drew at the Estádio do Dragão (1-1), but we want the first victory in the championship tomorrow (Sunday). That’s what we worked for,” he reiterated.
For this task, Moreno again cannot count on the injured Rúben Lameiras, Cafe Phete and Abass.
In an assessment of the nine days of work with the Transmontano squad, he revealed that the adaptation was “very easy” and confessed to feeling “at home”, but focused on overcoming the recent tide of failures of the club, which has five defeats and a draw in the League and has already been eliminated from the League Cup.
“I feel at home, honestly. It’s very little time, but I had a very easy adaptation, because it’s very easy to work with these types of people. It’s really good to work here, at this club, in this transmontana area, but now it’s about focusing on the work and starting to collect points.”
Desportivo de Chaves, 18th and last placed, with one point, visits Arouca, in 12th place, with six, on Sunday, at 15:30, at the Municipal Stadium of Arouca, in a meeting that will be refereed by Fábio Melo, of the Porto Football Association.
