Luís Castro was officially announced this Friday as the new coach of Grêmio.
Through social media, the club confirmed the signing of the Portuguese coach, who succeeds Mano Menezes as head coach of the first team. It should be noted that Luís Castro had been without a club since the beginning of November, when he left Al Wasl in the United Arab Emirates.
With a contract valid for the next two seasons, as 100percentsurewins had already reported , Luís Castro arrives at Grêmio with six members of his technical team: Vitor Severino and Pedro Mané (assistants), Daniel Correia (goalkeeper coach), Nuno Baptista (analyst) and the physical trainers Roberto Júnior and Nuno Cerdeira.
Furthermore, Luís Castro is only the second European coach to take charge of Grêmio’s first team, after the Hungarian László Székely in 1954.
