Kiwior happy with Poles. “We liked the style of play”
The Polish national team lost to the Netherlands 1-2 in the opening of Euro 2024. Despite this, the White and Reds showed a very good performance, they fired seven shots on target, and Jakub Kiwior showed his good performance.
The 24-year-old is the only national team player who has played in every match so far during Michał Probierz’s term of office. The coach consistently relies on Jakub Kiwior, and he repays his trust at every step. The universal footballer was, of course, included in the squad for Sunday’s Euro 2024 match against the Dutch national team and he performed very well.
– I liked our style of play. We entered the match openly and wanted to show our good side when we had the ball. It looked very good on Sunday, it’s a pity that we didn’t take advantage of the opportunities we created, Kiwior said at the press conference.
Experts pointed out that Kiwior was one of the best players of the Polish national team. He himself approaches his Sunday performance very calmly.
– It wasn’t my best performance in the national team. I didn’t think in this category, I tried to think about the team – emphasizes the stopper, who does not agree with coach Ronald Koeman‘s words that the Netherlands could have won this match much better.
– Of course they could have scored a few goals, but we could also have scored to make it 2-1. I had two situations where I could have scored a goal, he explains.
In the 24th consecutive international match, Kiwior played from the referee’s first whistle. The record holder in this respect is currently held by Jan Urban (25 consecutive appearances in the starting eleven), but his achievement is seriously threatened. Touchstone’s favorite will most likely increase his statistics during the tournament in Germany.
– I’m happy that I get a chance in every match. I have gained the trust of the coaches and I fight at every training session to make sure that the coach puts me in the next matches – admits the Arsenal player.
