Stars in the World Tennis League
Each of the three editions so far has attracted major stars, who saw it not only as an opportunity to earn extra money but also as a way to prepare for the upcoming season. Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Jelena Rybakina, Holger Rune, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Mirra Andreyeva, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Rublev, Paula Badosa, Casper Ruud, and Jasmine Paolini have all made at least one appearance in Dubai.
Poles also participated in the competition. Hubert Hurkacz played in the United Arab Emirates once – in 2023. Iga Świątek , however, was a regular , appearing in every edition. However, her teams never won the exhibition event, and only once, in the premiere edition, did a team of which the Polish player was a member reach the final.
Who will play in the World Tennis League in 2025?
In less than a month, the fourth edition of the World Tennis League will begin, but this time it will be held in India for the first time. The participants have already been announced. It’s hard to shake the impression that this year’s event will be the weakest in its short history.
Of course, as every year, a few stars will appear (Medvedev, Badosa and Rybakina), but the rest of the group will be made up of either lower-ranked players (Marta Kostiuk, Gael Monfils, Nick Kyrgios, Arthur Fils) or players from India.
There’s also one Polish woman among the competitors – though this time it won’t be Świątek, who plans to compete in another exhibition tournament (a week before the United Cup) in Shenzhen. Magda Linette will be flying to India , making her WTL debut.
The fourth edition of the World Tennis League is scheduled for December 17-20.
