The Croatian player identified the strictest coach he had worked with throughout his career.
Real Madrid idol and current Milan player , midfielder Luka Modric, revealed who was the strictest coach he worked with throughout his career, in an interview with the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”. The Croatian recounted episodes from his time working with José Mourinho in Spain and highlighted the Portuguese coach’s direct approach in dealing with the players.
When commenting on Mourinho’s profile, Modric cited a situation involving Cristiano Ronaldo during the coach’s time at the Spanish club, highlighting the manager’s demanding nature within the Real Madrid team.
Mourinho. I saw him make Cristiano Ronaldo cry in the locker room, a man who gives his all on the field, because, for once, he didn’t chase the opposing full-back. Mourinho is very direct with the players, but he’s honest. He treated Sergio Ramos and the newcomer the same way: if he had something to tell you, he would tell you. Honesty is fundamental — Modric told the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”.
Modric arrived at Real Madrid in the 2012/13 season, when Mourinho had already been in charge of the team since 2010. The midfielder was signed after standing out for Tottenham, in a deal worth 35 million euros. According to the player himself, the coach’s influence was decisive for the transfer.
He’s special. As a coach and as a person. He’s the one who wanted me at Real Madrid. Without Mourinho, I would never have gotten there. I regret only having him for one season.

During their time working together, Modric and Mourinho won the Spanish Super Cup. The partnership ended in June 2013, when the coach left Real Madrid and, a month later, signed with Chelsea.
Real Madrid legend Luka Modric currently plays for Milan.
In May of this year, Modric confirmed he would be leaving Real Madrid after 13 seasons at the club. Two months later, he was announced as a Milan player and made his debut at the San Siro in front of 71,000 fans.
The Italian team is currently second in the Italian Championship, with 35 points, one less than Inter Milan. The club returns to the field on Friday (2), at 4:45 pm (Brasilia time), to face Cagliari, for Serie A.
