I saw the World Cup play-off draw. Nothing beats the Italian delegation.
The onslaught of winter in Zurich caught some by surprise. Albania’s Brazilian coach, Sylvinho, was very cold, having arrived at the draw wearing only a suit, and the media portion of the event took place outdoors in sub-zero temperatures and falling snow.
correspondence from Malta and Zurich
I’m taking you on a professional journey from warm Malta to the frosty Advent market in Zurich, on the occasion of the World Cup play-off draw at FIFA headquarters.
With a wink, you could say that Malta is a place where November doesn’t exist. While it’s grey in Poland, here it’s 25 degrees Celsius, with a gentle breeze, beautiful monuments, and parties everywhere.
White and red colony
It’s no wonder a large group of Polish fans attended the World Cup qualifying match. According to the organizers, the away section was filled by four thousand people, but our compatriots were certainly more numerous, as they filled practically every stand in the stadium. For a moment, an island the size of Krakow turned into a red-and-white colony. Malta has one Polish restaurant—Full House. The owners likely had a large crowd on match day. Here, you can enjoy pierogi, pork chops, and Polish beer with a view of the beautiful Old Town.
Malta is among the top ten countries with the highest population density (1,630 people per square kilometer) in the world. It’s worth taking a look at tourism statistics, as the impact of visitors on the density of the so-called effective population is enormous.
