On matchday 36, in the middle of the week, Palmeiras hosts the already relegated América Mineiro, while Leão do Pici visits Bragantino.
The second part of Heroes and Villain
The first half was short of excitement and dominated by Juan Vojvoda’s side, despite the visitors’ greater possession (68%).
The opening goal was scored by Thiago Galhardo, who scored for the first time in 12 games after Guilherme took advantage of the Palmeiras defense on the left – and signed a precious assist.
In the second half, the game continued at a low pace, dictated by the Lion, until the expulsion of Gustavo Gómez, in the 59th minute, turned the game upside down.
The Paraguayan center-back was returning from suspension, after being sent off against Flamengo, and ended up with a red card again, for a foul that interrupted an imminent goal.
Abel Ferreira immediately replaced striker Breno Lopes with full-back Vanderlan, and Palmeiras made it 1-1 soon after.
Man of the match on the green side, Raphael Veiga missed the first shot but, on the rebound, hit a beautiful shot and left everything equal on the scoreboard, in the 66th minute.
After the tie, Verdão went in search of the comeback and ended up conceding the second goal. Man of the match on the tricolor side, Calebe made a beautiful table with Thiago Galhardo and finished to the back of the net, after invading Weverton’s area, in the 70th minute.
Marinho came on in the 76th minute, in place of Galhardo, to help Fortaleza kill the game, but, in the next minute, the Ceará ended up conceding another goal, even in numerical superiority: Zé Rafael took advantage of a cross in the area and left everything equal for the visitors, in the 77th minute.
The confrontation continued back and forth, with Palmeiras further back from securing equality, but still looking for victory on the counterattacks.
The Lions failed to break through the green defense for the third time, and the final score ended up being widely celebrated by the Palmeirenses. João Martins, Abel Ferreira’s assistant, also went to the dressing room earlier, but for words to the referee.
