Vitória de Guimarães: Victorian Council resigns en bloc

The Victorian Council, advisory body of Vitória de Guimarães, which was chaired by Miguel Salazar, presented this Saturday, the leadership led by António Miguel Cardoso, his resignation en bloc.

In a statement, the elements of the Victorian Council explain that, following its “interventions in the two Extraordinary General Assemblies (of March 3 and May 19), the Victorian Council was surprised by the discomfort expressed by other Governing Bodies, which then disagreed with its interventionist stance.”

In the aftermath, they explain, the situation worsened: “In addition, since then, the Victorian Council has noted that the treatment given to it by other Governing Bodies has been progressively deteriorating. The most recent situation, related to the forthcoming AG of 6 October, in which the Victorian Council was not consulted, nor even informed, about its appointment or the proposed statutory amendment, having learned of both facts only from the media, has confirmed that the Board no longer has the collaboration of this Victorian Council.”

Statement from the Victorian Council

“In the year and a half that has been in operation, this Victorian Council has always guided its behaviour by the faithful fulfilment of its statutory powers and the guidelines it had agreed with the Board at the beginning of its mandate. The performance of this Victorian Council, whose genesis was based on the plurality and wealth of opinions of all the Councillors, was always guided by the uncompromising defence of the best interests of Vitória Sport Clube.

In the fulfilment of its mission, the Victorian Council felt it was its duty to intervene in the EGMs of 3 March and 19 May, with the sole purpose of ensuring the full clarification of the members, in relation to the agreement to be concluded between Vitória and VSports. Following these
interventions in the two EGMs, the Victorian Council was surprised by the discomfort expressed by other Governing Bodies, which then disagreed with its interventionist stance. Unfortunately for Victoria SC, time has come to confirm the relevance of these interventions, as well as all the reservations of the Victorian Council regarding the terms of the agreement.

Moreover, since then, the Victorian Council has noted that the treatment of it by other governing bodies has been progressively deteriorating. The most recent situation, related to the forthcoming AG of 6 October, in which the Victorian Council was not consulted, nor even informed, about its appointment or the proposed statutory amendment, having learned of both facts only from the media, has confirmed that the Board no longer has the collaboration of this Victorian Council.

Thus, faced with a situation that has become unsustainable for the normal functioning of the institution Vitória Sport Clube, the Victorian Council unanimously understands that the dismissal of this body is the solution that is required, which is why it communicates it, with immediate effect.
