Wisła Kraków legend becomes Goldsaver ambassador
It was in the Polish league that Kuba Błaszczykowski, an icon of Polish football and recently also a Goldsaver ambassador , made his mark . The turning point in his career came in early 2005, when Kuba arrived for a trial at Wisła Kraków in February.
His great talent and incredible work ethic were quickly recognized by then-White Star coach Werner Liczka . Soon, the young player made his debut in the Wisła starting eleven, and his excellent play, which made him a fan favorite, also earned him a call-up to the Polish national team.
In July 2007, Błaszczykowski signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund, becoming – for many years to come – the club’s German pillar , and when two more Poles joined the team: Robert Lewandowski and Łukasz Piszczek, Borussia won the Bundesliga two times in a row (in 2011 and 2012).
Kuba ends his career in the colors of the White Star
After years of excellent performances on European pitches, Kuba returned to the Polish Ekstraklasa in early 2019, signing a six-month contract with Wisła Kraków . He agreed that his entire salary would be donated to match tickets for children from orphanages.
Błaszczykowski has repeatedly emphasized his love for the White Star and reiterated that he wants to culminate his football career with a game for Wisła Kraków. Kuba officially retired in August 2023, bidding farewell to the fans before Wisła Kraków’s match against Stal Rzeszów.
The outstanding midfielder made a total of 112 appearances for Wisła Kraków . Only Błaszczykowski has made more appearances for Borussia Dortmund throughout his career. Kuba has represented BVB in a total of 253 matches. He also has 109 caps and 21 goals for the Polish national team.
