The UEFA bans Benfica fans from attending Juventus matches.

Benfica is banned from selling tickets for its next away Champions League match against Juventus, following incidents that occurred during the match against Ajax in Amsterdam. This information was confirmed by the club itself on Thursday through an official statement.

The sanction comes as a result of flares being lit in the stands where Benfica supporters were located, behavior that UEFA considers a serious infraction under its disciplinary regulations. Consequently, Benfica will not be able to offer tickets to its fans for the trip to Turin.

In the same statement, Benfica revealed that it still has a suspended match ban pending for a period of two years. This means that any new incident involving pyrotechnics, whether at the Estádio da Luz or in matches played abroad, could trigger even more severe punishments.

Possible additional measures include a renewed ban on ticket sales for away games and even a ban on access to certain sections of the Estádio da Luz during European matches.

Given the risky situation, the club made a direct appeal to its fans, asking for exemplary behavior to avoid sanctions that could harm Benfica both on and off the field.

” Sport Lisboa e Benfica therefore reiterates its appeal to its fans to behave in an exemplary manner in supporting the team, protecting the Club from further sanctions ,” the statement said.

Furthermore, Benfica is still subject to a two-year suspended sentence, meaning that any new incident related to pyrotechnics – whether in matches played at the Estádio da Luz or in away games – will result in a new ban on ticket sales for away matches and a possible ban on access to certain sectors in home games.
