Atlético are in negotiations to sign striker Mateo Cassierra, currently at Zenit, Russia. The information was released by the Russian press this Thursday (16), indicating that the club is closely monitoring the player’s situation and evaluating the terms to advance in the negotiation.
Cassierra did not participate in Zenit’s training session on Thursday, the first after returning from vacation. When questioned about the striker’s absence, coach Sergey Semak confirmed that the club had received offers for the 28-year-old player.
Cassierra is dealing with his personal issues. He has a proposal. How serious is it? We’ll find out soon. Of course, we need him now, but he has good offers, both for the club and for himself.
We are seeing how this situation can be resolved one way or another. I think Mateo had a good first part of the season, but again, we’ll see. If Mateo leaves, we’ll look for another striker to partner with Sobolev. We have other options. But, of course, I would like to find another striker when Cassierra leaves – said the coach.

Who is Mateo Cassierra, Atlético’s target?
Mateo Cassierra is a 1.86m tall Colombian striker who came up through the youth ranks of Deportivo Cali in Colombia.
