Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, who has held the world rankings since October 21, 2024, began her 66th career week at the top of the rankings on Monday. She ranks 12th among the longest-running players.

Iga Świątek has reached 125 weeks as number one on the WTA list and is in seventh place in the all-time rankings.

The 24-year-old from Raszyn – the first Polish woman in history – debuted as the ranking’s leader on April 4, 2022, replacing Australian Ashleigh Barty, who announced her retirement from the sport a few weeks earlier. She held the lead for 75 weeks, losing it to Sabalenka on September 11, 2023. After eight weeks, she returned to the top and held the lead for 50 consecutive weeks.

The WTA ranking has been prepared since November 3, 1975 by the Women’s Tennis Association, the organization that runs professional women’s competitions.

The tennis player who has been at the top the longest – for 377 weeks – remains the German Steffi Graf.
