Meet Martín Anselmi, Botafogo’s coach.

Martín Anselmi, the new coach of Botafogo, who began his career as an assistant coach, worked alongside Gabriel Milito and Miguel Ángel Ramírez, former coaches of Atlético-MG and Internacional, respectively. While managing Independiente del Valle of Ecuador, he won the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana, as well as the Copa Ecuador and the Supercopa Ecuador. He arrives at Botafogo with a two-year contract.

Subsequently, he spent a year at Cruz Azul in Mexico before accepting an offer from Porto for the middle of the 2024/2025 season.

Anselmi’s teams are known for their versatile, attacking style of play. This, in fact, was an important factor in the Botafogo board’s approval for his signing. Furthermore, the fact that he had already played in the Copa Libertadores weighed heavily in the Botafogo directors’ decision to hire Martín Anselmi.
