Former England international Wayne Rooney is the new manager of Birmingham City, the sixth-placed club in the Championship, England’s second division, said on Wednesday.
“Birmingham City Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Rooney as manager on a three-and-a-half-year contract,” the club said in a statement, filling the vacancy following the sacking of John Eustace.
Rooney, who was an iconic England and Manchester United player, arrives at Birmingham after having coached Derby County and, more recently, American side DC United.
