MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was carted off with a serious-looking leg injury during Sunday’s 17-10 victory over the New York Jets, raising fears that the Pro Bowl playmaker could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Hill went down in the third quarter after catching a 10-yard pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on third-and-eight. His leg was trapped awkwardly beneath him, and television replays showed his ankle at an unnatural angle. NFL Network reported Hill was ruled out with a knee injury and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Despite the worrying scenes, Hill appeared in good spirits, smiling and waving to fans as he was carted from the field. He had been Miami’s most effective weapon before the injury, recording six receptions for 67 yards.
The setback leaves the Dolphins with a significant challenge in their bid to secure a first win of the season. With Hill unavailable, Tagovailoa will lean more heavily on receivers Jaylen Waddle, Darren Waller, and rookie Malik Washington to carry the passing game.
Hill, 30, is central to Miami’s high-tempo offense and widely regarded as one of the league’s most explosive players. His potential absence for an extended period would be a major blow to the Dolphins, who are battling the Jets in the AFC East.
While the extent of the injury remains unclear, Miami will await medical results with concern. The team’s hopes of competing at the top of the division may rest on how quickly, if at all, their star receiver can return.
