The third stop of the current World Cup season

Ruka is the third stop in this World Cup season. Last weekend, the ski jumpers competed in Lillehammer, Norway, and on Tuesday and Wednesday in Falun, Sweden.

After four individual competitions, the leader of the general classification is Slovenian Anze Lanisek , who won the last competition. Second place is occupied by Stefan Kraft , who will not compete in Ruka. The Austrian returned to his homeland to accompany his wife for the birth of their child. This opportunity may be utilized by the riders who are behind the 32-year-old in the general classification: Austrian Daniel Tschofenig , Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi , and Slovenian Domen Prevc . The best Pole, Kamil Stoch, is in 12th place, and Kacper Tomasiak is 15th.

– In Ruka we will fight for a place in the top ten – announces the coach of the Polish team, Maciej Maciusiak .

How will the Poles perform on the Rukatunturi large hill?

The Rukatunturi is one of the largest large hills in the world, measuring 142 meters. The record holder is Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud , who jumped 150.5 meters. The longest jump, 153.5 meters, was made by his compatriot Jarl Magnus Riiber , who competed in Nordic combined.

The Ruka World Cup was first held in 1996 and has been held regularly since 2002. Kraft, Kobayashi, and Switzerland’s Simon Ammann have won most often – three times each . Last year, the Germans Pius Paschke and Andreas Wellinger triumphed .

The last Finn to win the Rukatunturi competition was Artu Lappi in 2006. Among the Poles, Adam Małysz , Żyła, Stoch and Kubacki stood on the podium.
